Hello, I’m James Pearson – An Accredited Counsellor and Therapist in Bingley, Bradford and Halifax.
How do we make sense of life, our emotions, and our place in the world? These are questions many of us ask ourselves at different points in life. In my work as a professional counsellor, I help people explore these questions and discover their own answers through safe, person-centred therapy.Hi, I’m James Pearson, an accredited counsellor and therapist offering relationship, anger and anxiety counselling and personal therapy in Bingley, Bradford, Halifax and Sowerby Bridge, as well as online across the UK.
I work with people experiencing a wide range of emotional challenges including relationship difficulties, anxiety, anger, depression and life transitions. My aim is to provide a calm, safe and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly, without judgement or pressure.
I hold a Distinction in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Lancaster University and I am a member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Many of the people who come to see me simply want a place where they can talk honestly about what is happening in their lives and begin to make sense of it. Counselling offers the opportunity to slow things down, gain new understanding and begin finding a way forward that feels right for you.
My journey to becoming a counsellor was shaped by my own experiences. I’ve faced periods of confusion, self-sabotage, and a loss of direction—moments when life felt unfulfilling or out of focus. These experiences taught me empathy and insight, allowing me to connect deeply with my clients and understand the complexities of human emotions and behaviours.
I trained in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy with Lancaster University, earning a Distinction, and I am a full member of both the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). My training, combined with lived experience, allows me to offer a calm, supportive, and confidential space where clients feel heard, valued, and understood.
I specialise in helping people explore their thoughts and emotions, improve relationships, and develop self-compassion and clarity. My clients often describe me as friendly, warm, and intuitive—someone who helps them discover answers at their own pace, in a manner that works for them.
Whether you’re considering personal counselling or relationship counselling in West Yorkshire or online, my approach is person-centred, flexible, and designed around your needs. Together, we work to understand your experiences, uncover patterns, and create solutions that are meaningful to you.
Why I Became a Counsellor
I've always been interested in people, relationships and the ways life experiences can shape how we think, feel and behave. Over the years, I've seen how easy it can be for people to become stuck in patterns that leave them feeling overwhelmed, disconnected or unsure of how to move forward.
What drew me to counselling was the opportunity to offer something many people struggle to find in everyday life: a space where they can speak openly, feel genuinely heard and explore what's happening without judgement. Whether someone is facing relationship difficulties, anxiety, anger, depression, grief or a significant life change, I believe having the right support can make a meaningful difference.
As a counsellor, I don't see my role as giving advice or telling people what to do. Instead, I aim to create a safe, supportive and collaborative environment where you can better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences and find your own way forward.
Every person who comes to counselling brings a unique story, and it's a privilege to be trusted with that. It's a responsibility I take seriously and one of the reasons I continue to invest in my professional development, supervision and ongoing learning.
